Devolver Digital Direct 2022: All The Games Featured (And Some Marketing)

This week was most definitely going to be jam-packed with video game announcements, trailers and releases, all thanks to Summer Game Fest. Among the shows lined up for gamers to feast upon during this big weekend event was the Devolver Digital Direct, or as the company more aptly puts it: the Devolver Marketing Countdown to Marketing.
The 25-minute showcase was not just a showcase on games, but interestingly also a quirky and funny meta-commentary on the impact of monopolisation in the video game industry. It was a very unique way to present the publisher’s upcoming games from various indie developers, and what a lineup we’re getting in the next few months or so.
Here’s a full list of games that were previewed at the Devolver Marketing Countdown to Marketing!
Card Shark – Available Now
Imagine a game that promotes active cheating in order to win. That’s Card Shark by Nerial, where you’ll have to deceive and con your way to victory by performing sleights of hand right under your opponents’ noses. Available now on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Cult of the Lamb – 11 August
Cult of the Lamb turns the concept of “sacrificial lamb” on its head, and instead begs the question: “what if you sacrifice yourself to the lamb instead?”. In this game, players play as a cutesy lamb who builts a cult of other anthropomorphic animal followers to feed their power and defeat rival cult leaders in the process. The game launches on 11 August on PC and consoles, with a playable demo available now on Steam.
Anger Foot – 2023
Ever felt so angry that all you wanted to do was smash things down with your foot? Well, you can channel that energy into Anger Foot, a first-person shooter where your main weapon is the sole of your foot. Simple and straightforward, just like a foot to the face. The game launches sometime in 2023.
The Plucky Squire – 2023
This charming platformer blends both 2D and 3D worlds seamlessly like Super Mario Odyssey, but it also incorporates other genres, such as action-adventure like The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, side-scrolling endless runner in the vein of Jetpack Joyride, and more. With an incredible mesh of 2D and 3D art styles, this is one title to watch out for when it drops in 2023 for PC and consoles.
Skate Story – 2023
Rounding off this showcase is Skate Story, a game that lets you skate to your heart’s content in the afterlife, with original music by the band Blood Cultures. This game is definitely a vibe, and we’re definitely looking forward to its 2023 release.
A quirky presentation by Devolver Digital was matched by equally quirky and interesting games, all with really cool premises. You may wishlist all of these games now on Devolver’s Steam page now too, so you’ll be notified of their respective launches.
