Dragon’s Dogma 2 Announced At Game’s 10-Year Anniversary

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the makers of Dragon’s Dogma. This week, fans’ hopes of a sequel have finally been ignited after Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2.

This was announced at the closing moments of the game’s 10th anniversary digital event, where director Hideaki Istuno and his team unveiled the game, which is currently in development. Aside from the title card, no release date or trailer was announced as of yet.

In the video, Itsuno began with the origins of Dragon’s Dogma, stating that it was his love for the high fantasy genre and tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons that inspired him to create the world and lore of the game. This was combined with his equal passion for real-time action and fighting games, and his involvement in the development of the likes of Street Fighter 2 and the Devil May Cry franchise, which ultimately culminated in the Dragon’s Dogma we know and love today.

“Everyone in the development team is hard at work creating a game that we hope you will enjoy,” exclaimed Itsuno at the reveal of the sequel. “Please look forward to it.”

The announcement of Dragon’s Dogma 2 was part of a series of big-name reveals by Capcom over the course of the Not-E3 festival, with the likes of the Resident Evil 4 remake, Resident Evil Village DLC, Street Fighter 6 and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak announcements also whetting the appetites of gamers for what’s to come in the next year or so.

Dragon’s Dogma was launched in 2012 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. A single expansion, Dark Arisen, was released in 2013, with a definitive edition complete with an HD update re-released in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, and once more in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch.
