Big news in the world of gaming. Sony have finally revealed the PlayStation 5.

We’re not going to go into massive details as there is not much to go on. But here is a quick breakdown of what we know.

Release Date:

Holiday 2020 (so October – December sometime)

Price:

Nothing yet. However, we are sure it will be in line with what the PS4 launched at.

Backward Compatibility:

Yes! You will be able to play all your PS4 games on the PS5.

Specs:

The PS5 will contain an AMD chip that has a CPU based on the third-generation Ryzen. That means eight cores of the seven-nanometer Zen 2 microchip. The console will also support 8K gameplay, which also depends on the display you are using.

Radeon’s Navi line will be used for the graphics chipset. The PS5 will also support ray-racing.

A super-fast SSD will be used instead of the more traditional HDD-drives used in previous PlayStation’s.

The PS5 will include a disc drive and PS5 discs will have a capacity of 100 GB. The console will also support 4K Blu-Rays.

Controller:

The controller will have a haptic feedback system that replaces the old ‘rumble’ technology. Haptic gives users a broader range of feedback where crashing into a wall will feel different to taking shots in a first-person shooter.

The controller will also have adaptive triggers. The L2/R2 buttons can be programmed to feature varying levels of resistance. So pulling the trigger on a gun will feel different to drawing an arrow with a bow.

PSVR Support: 

A big yes.

PS5 Games

All we know is Final Fantasy VII Remake is the only title that has been confirmed to be on PS5. But be sure to see titles like Call of Duty, the new Assassins Creed and FIFA hit the PS5 at the end of 2020.
